Technology to Significantly Increase Spectrophotometer Sensitivity

Add-on Device that Increases Spectrophotometer Sensitivity by up to 100-fold
Technology No. 10UMS002

This technology increases the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) up to 100-fold using a novel feature in the detector circuitry to significantly reduce the noise level while maintaining a constant signal.

This novel, patented device that can be internally or externally integrated into current spectrophotometer instruments to increase sensitivity by 100-fold, allowing for measurements of substances at much lower concentrations than is possible with current instrumentation. Spectrophotometer sensitivity is determined by signal to noise ratio (S/N), which should be as large as possible. This technology increases the S/N using a novel feature in the detector circuitry to significantly reduce the nosie level while maintaining a constant signal.

Benefits:

  • Allows for testing on samples of much lower concentration, which brings spectrophotometry into new markets not possible with current instrumentation (trace analysis)
  • Inexpensive to implement into current spectrophotometers (high profit margins)

Applications:

  • UV-Vis
  • FTIR
  • Atomic Absorption
  • HPLC
  • Circular Dischroism
  • Capillary ElectrophoresisTwo Issued Patents

Devolopment Status: Ready to implement with minimal testing in most types of spectrophotometer inststruments

Issued US Patents:

  • #8,766,191
  • #8,830,474
